We’ve Been Growing—And You’re Part of What Comes Next

It’s been a while since our last update—and in that time, something powerful has been quietly unfolding.

Phoenix Rising is no longer just an idea or a dream. It’s becoming a living, breathing mission.

Since we last connected:

professional service dog handler, wearing a navy hoodie with the Phoenix Rising SDSL logo, is sitting on an autumn park bench and looking down with a smile at a large black Labrador service dog. The black lab is wearing a red service vest with a clear patch that reads "SERVICE DOG - DO NOT PET - PHOENIX RISING SDSL". The handler is holding the dog’s black leash as the dog rests its paws on her feet on a paved path surrounded by fall foliage.
Perfectly aligned. A dedicated Phoenix Rising SDSL service dog and handler take a moment to connect during a training walk in the autumn park.
  • We’ve launched our website, creating a home for stories, resources, and connection
  • We’ve begun publishing blogs that speak to grief, healing, and the life-changing role of service dogs
  • We now have a fiscal sponsor, which means we can officially receive tax-deductible donations
  • And we’re continuing to build our first major initiative:
📖 Phoenix Rising: Stories of Service Dogs Saving Lives

This work is deeply personal. I know firsthand what it means to be pulled back from the edge—to have a service dog not just assist, but save my life. And I also know that there are so many others out there who are still waiting for that kind of hope and support.

That’s why Phoenix Rising exists.

We are building toward a future where individuals living with PTSD and other hidden disabilities are not left to fight alone—but are partnered with highly trained service dogs who can help them reclaim safety, stability, and purpose.

But here’s the truth: we can’t do this alone.

This next chapter is about connection.

We’re reaching out, building relationships, and inviting people into this mission—because every story shared, every introduction made, and every dollar given moves us closer to placing life-saving dogs into the hands of those who need them most.

If you’ve been part of this journey already, I thank you.

And if you’re just stepping in: welcome. There’s a place for you here.
